Frequently Asked Questions

Who is CQM Learning and why should I use them?

CQM Learning Limited is an independent skills broker working with approved training providers around the country. We will not work with training providers until we are satisfied that they are of the highest quality and can deliver exceptional customer service to you. To do this we gather reports conducted by the qualification’s awarding body such as City and Guilds, Edexcel or OCR which are independent reports detailing the quality of provision by the training company and the assessors. We also gather OFSTED reports to ensure the highest calibre from our providers. Because we have done this research, you can rest assured that the delivery of training will be of the highest pedigree.

CQM take your simple applications for funded qualifications and source the correct funding stream and a suitable training provider that meets your needs. This is an especially useful service if you need training across several regions or require different qualifications, as you may need to access the services of various training providers to cover you requirements.

Quality assurance is paramount at CQM Learning, so we will not walk away once you have started the training. We will remain on hand to answer any queries you have about the course, the training provider or the assessor that is delivering your training. We also ensure you receive regular updates on the status of each of your staff member’s qualification.

What will it cost me? What is the cost of training?

The government is pouring additional funding into vocational qualifications; therefore they are paying for the full costs of the courses including registration, tuition and certification. The true cost to a business owner will only be the amount of time that your staff members are released for the training. As that training is delivered on site and requires your staff member to be actually doing their job role so that the assessor can observe them; this carries minimum impact to your customers or service users. For further clarification, please don’t hesitate to call our team of advisors.

Will we get full funding?

CQM Learning has access to so many streams of funding, and the funding rules change so often that we can not give you definitive qualifying criteria. Of course nearly everyone is aware that if your staff members are over 19 years of age, don’t have an NVQ Level 2 equivalent qualification and have had EU status for 3 years then they will get funding. For further clarification about the funding streams available please call us on 0114 2815781.

However we can also gain funding for:

The application process is simple, simply complete the short application forms and return to us at the contact details provided. We will use the information to find out which training providers will fund the courses based upon your requirements and the information provided by each of your staff about their status. If funding does not exist we can sometimes broker deals or we simply retain the applications until the funding rules change and you do receive the funding. You are not committing yourself to anything other that having a company try and find you fully funded training to meet your requirements. You do not pay for our services as they are paid for by the training provider, leaving you a fully funded training solution.

When does the course start? Where is it delivered?

In house training – The courses are vocational; therefore they are delivered at the learner’s place of work. We can normally start the training with 3 weeks after successful application depending upon assessor availability. There is no need for off site training what so ever to minimise the impact to the company. An assessor would typically visit once a month for 6 months (for a level 2 qualification). Each visit would last an hour. The assessor will use this time to mentor, train and help the candidate through the qualification. Productivity during this hour may decrease, but not cease.

How long does the course last?

How long is a piece of string? – Courses progress at the speed of the learner. Those needing more support or with less time to commit will obviously take longer. A general ‘rule of thumb’ is 6-9 months for a level 2, and 12-18 months for a level 3. We have had people complete a level 2 in 6 weeks! Those that are experienced and put more time into the qualification will complete earlier.

How does the NVQ course work?

Learning journey – After successful application, we inform the approved training provider in your area to contact you to arrange the “initial visit”. At this visit they will complete the application process and meet with the learner to discuss all aspects of the qualification and how it works. They will prepare learning plans and will also plan all future visits. Then, usually on a monthly basis, the assessor would meet the candidate to check progress on tasks set during the previous visit; assess the understanding of those tasks; put evidence of understanding into the portfolio of evidence; and then set a task for the next visit. Once all of the units have been covered and the learner has demonstrated their understanding of them through the evidence gathered in the portfolio, the portfolio is then sent off for assessment.

The assessor is the learners mentor and will help them every step of the way through the qualification.
